BalletLab/Temperance Hall is a not-for profit organisation and all venue hire income directly supports our community of artists and artistic programs.

Temperance Hall has two spaces available: our Main Hall and our Upstairs Studio

We have four hire categories

We use three pricing tiers to determine the cost of your hire.
These tiers enable us to provide affordable spaces to independent artists and students, while ensuring the sustainability of our organisation and the up-keep of our heritage building:

    • Independent Artist/Student
    • Community/Small Arts Org
    • Commercial/Large Arts Org

Notes on hiring Temperance Hall

    • Bookings are available from 7am – 11pm. Later hirers are available on a case-by-case basis
    • Minimum standard booking is 3 hours
    • When hiring Temperance Hall, you must agree to the terms and conditions listed in our Venue Hire Agreement

STEP 1: Check venue availability via OUR Skedda calendar

Skedda is an online space-booking service that allows our hirers to see when our spaces are free or in use.

 


STEP 2: Create a Skedda account

Please note that this step requires you to enter your card details. This does not constitute a confirmed booking, we will confirm your booking from our end before and payment will be taken after your hire.

STEP 3: Submit a booking enquiry via Google Forms

Once you’ve checked out our spaces and available times, send us some more information through our Google Form. The booking inquiry form asks different questions regarding the nature of your hire and will help us with the next step.

Getting Here

 

Temperance Hall is located at 199 Napier Street, South Melbourne.

It is a 10-minute tram ride/drive from Melbourne’s CBD. Temperance Hall is a 3-minute walk from: 

Tram 1 – Stop 24 (corner of Clarendon St and Park St) and from

Tram 12 – Stop 129 (corner of Park St and Clarendon St).

A couple of accessible parking spots are available directly outside Temperance Hall along Napier Street. There is free 2-hour (Mon – Fri,10.00 am – 6.00 pm) parking bays available on Napier Street and Church Street, and limited all-day parking is available on the Temperance Hall side of Church Street. Alternatively, all-day paid parking is available on Cecil Street.

Bicycle parking hoops are located on the corner of Napier and Church Street adjacent to the Hall. 

 

ACCESSIBILITY

 

Temperance Hall's Main Hall is located on the ground floor of the building and is wheelchair accessible via the Napier Street Main Entrance. Bathrooms are for all genders and wheelchair accessible. Temperance Hall's Upstairs Studio is only accessible via a stair well.
